Banner Tales – Glasgow and the Anti-Apartheid Movement

Glasgow Caledonian University’s Nelson Mandela Freeman of Glasgow banner and Glasgow Museums’ Sechaba banner are the focus for the talks and discussion.

Inspired by banners created for the anti-apartheid movement in Scotland, Banner Tales marks the 25th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s visit to Glasgow in October 1993 to receive the Freedom of Nine Cities with an afternoon of discussion and talks. Speakers include Brian Filling, John Nelson and Suganya Chetty.

Banner Tales is organised by Glasgow Caledonian University Archive Centre, Glasgow Museums, Glasgow University, ACTSA Scotland and Nelson Mandela Scottish Memorial Foundation with the support of the Raphael Samuel History Centre.
