Africa in Motion film festival 26 Oct – 4 Nov

Africa in Motion film festivalThis year’s Africa-in-Motion Film Festival features a number of films and events related to the Mandela Centenary.

The film, “Nelson Mandela: A True Pan-Africanist”, is being screened on Wednesday 31 October at the Edinburgh Filmhouse. This film documentary focuses on Mandela’s pan-African journeys and influences.

There will be a Q&A following the film with Director, Faith Isiakpere, and Producer, Firdoze Bulbulie. Brian Filling, chair of the NMSMF, has been asked to chair the Q&A.

Other films in the Festival include: “Standing on Their Shoulders”, a documentary on the historical journey of female resistance to apartheid. The film marks and celebrates the centenary of Albertina Sisulu, details at, and “Whispering Truth to Power”, which tracks Thuli Madonsela, South Africa’s former Public Protector, as she builds her case against the country’s then President, Jacob Zuma.
