The Nelson Mandela Scottish Memorial Foundation has launched a campaign to raise funds to create a statue of Nelson Mandela.
In 2021 the campaign is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Nelson Mandela receiving the Freedom of the City of Glasgow, the first city in the world to award the honour; and the 35th anniversary of the naming of Nelson Mandela Place in Glasgow when it was still the location of the apartheid consulate.
